Grant Fellows Workshop for Early Career Faculty

Each year, a Grant Fellows Workshop series is offered for early-career faculty across Cornell. Please look for a call for applications for the Fall 2020 series in Summer 2020. OVPR, CALS, and OFDD provide the program.

This workshop is designed to help grant-interested faculty produce a quality, review-ready proposal in just six weeks, with valuable information and support from grant-successful facilitators. The workshop is aimed at early-career faculty, specifically Assistant Professors and Assistant Research Professors, and particularly individuals who identify as part of an underrepresented group (including but not limited to persons of color, first-generation college (FGC) graduates, women in STEM, veterans, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQQ+). Topics covered will include trends and opportunities in grant making, integrated evaluation plans, persuasive and compelling narrative writing, effective supplementary materials, and addressing unique challenges that historically underrepresented groups may face in accessing research funding. In addition, each participant will be assigned a grant-successful faculty reader in their field to give them detailed feedback on their proposal and will receive travel support and airfare to Washington, DC, to meet with relevant federal agency program officers in May 2020.

CPC Grant Development Program

The Cornell Population Center (CPC) hosts a Grant Development Program for new investigators across the social sciences. The program provides hands-on mentorship and administrative support to develop their research for external funding. This initiative is co-directed by Matt Hall and Erin York Cornwell and made possible with support from the College of Human Ecology, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Cornell Center for Social Sciences, and the Office of Faculty Development and Diversity.
