Steven Alvarado

An assistant professor in sociology, Steven Alvarado focuses on social stratification, education, social demography, quantitative methodology, immigration, and health. In particular, he explores the structural elements that play key roles in children’s outcomes.

He is currently investigating how exposure to neighborhood disadvantage during childhood impacts adult social and economic well-being. He’s also using data from the High School Longitudinal Study of 2009 to investigate racial and ethnic disparities in science and math education.

Additional information about Steven’s research and a list of his publication are available on his department website.
