This research has received funding from the National Science Foundation and the Russell Sage Foundation and has been published or is forthcoming in the American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, Political Behavior, Public Opinion Quarterly, Presidential Studies Quarterly, and State Politics & Policy Quarterly. He is also co-editor of the book, Who Gets Represented? His recent book, Incarceration Nation describes how increasing punitiveness over the last several decades has led to the rise of mass incarceration in the United States.
