Melissa Ferguson

Melissa Ferguson, Professor of Psychology, is an expert in social cognition. Her cutting-edge work addresses how classical psychological constructs, including attitudes, goals, judgments, and ideology, operate in an unconscious, unintentional manner. She has found that creative solutions to difficult problems can be tracked non-consciously, even before the person consciously grasps the solution.

Formerly the President of the International Social Cognition Network, Ferguson’s work has appeared in many¬†publications. She has received funding from the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health and Binational Science Foundation, among other organizations.
