M. Diane Burton

An organizational sociologist, Diane Burton focuses on entrepreneurship, organizations, employment systems, and stratification. She is best known for her multi-method longitudinal research studying the imprints left by founding teams and founding conditions on organizational evolution; her research is described in a number of publications.

She has held editorial roles for several leading journals featuring
entrepreneurship research. She was an Executive Committee member for both the Organization and Management Theory and Entrepreneurship Divisions of the Academy of Management.

Burton is a tenured faculty member in Human Resource Studies within the School of Industrial and Labor Relations. She has ties to the Organizational Behavior and Sociology departments.
