Lindy Williams is a Professor in Development Sociology, Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and Asian Studies. Lindy Williams’s academic interests are focused geographically in Southeast Asia and substantively in the areas of family sociology and population dynamics. Her research examines how both are influenced by changing social, economic, and environmental conditions. She also addresses issues pertaining to family demography and reproductive health in the United States. Gender and inter-generational relations, attitudes, and decision-making are central themes in her research.  In the near term, her research will continue to concentrate on issues of social change and its impacts on families. Labor migration, international migration for marriage, and migration in response to environmental stressors are among the newer themes in her research.
