Summer Institutes

ISS’ Land Theme Project founded the annual “Summer Institute” bringing together early-career scholars interested in land-related issues.

The third Summer Institute on Contested Global Landscapes, sponsored by the Institute for the Social Sciences, was  held at Cornell University from May 11-15, 2015. Selected through a competitive process, participants came to Ithaca from around the globe to address this year’s theme – Occupation: Violence and the Long-term Control of Land and People.

Prior Summer Instituted focused on Property (2013) and Knowledge and the Politics of Land (2014).
