Sarah A. Soule is a Professor of Sociology. She has worked extensively on the causes dynamics, and consequences of social protest, including the diffusion of protest tactics, individual level protest behavior, the impact of social protest on public policy, and processes of policy diffusion. Her current research examines the impact of social movement organizations, lobbying, and advocacy groups on the introduction and passage of U.S. legislation concerning the environment. She is also working on a study of inter-organizational dynamics within the U.S. environmental, peace, and women's movement and a study of how social movements impacted decisions of multi-national corporations in over 30 countries with respect to divestment in Burma/Myanmar. She teaches courses in Political Sociology and in Social Movements.
